Joining Liquid Courage

From Liquid Courage Wiki

Are you interested in applying to Liquid Courage? Consider the following:

1. How old are you? You should be over the age of 18. While maturity and age are not the same, we're an adult guild and have adult humor which is often not appropriate for those under the age of 18, equally important is that our members are more comfortable knowing fellow members are over 18.

2. If you are over 18, read our Guild Charter to see if our philosophy is a fit.

3. If you are still here, then read the guild rules which explains everything, including the differences between the member tier and the raid tier and the trial application process.

4. If you are still interested, then register on our forum. This will allow you to post (questions) here and also allow us to communicate with you via private messages.

5. Join our lcapp channel. If you don't know how to do this, the command in game is simply 'join /lcapp' this will allow you to be in a channel with our recruitment officer, some guild members, and other potential applicants.

6. Group with us as much as you can to determine if our play style matches yours and to get to know us better and to get to know someone well enough for them to sponsor you for membership.

7. Once you have a current member (not a trial member) willing to sponsor your application, fill out an application with us.

8. Do not have any open applications with other guilds. This is a waste of everyone's time. If you are applying to our guild, it's our expectation that you have closed out all apps to other guilds, by either posting on their forum that you are closing your application or by having them remove your app prior to you applying to us.

9. Your application is one of many things we'll evaluate, but remember for our guild members who haven't grouped with you, your application will be the first impression they have of you. Good grammar and spelling are a definite plus in your favor, poor grammar and poor spelling are not. The more information you put in your application, the easier it is for us to get to know you.

10. Provided you've followed the steps listed above, you should receive an initial response (which could be: a response to your post, a private message (PM) on our forum, or an in-game tell or mail) to your application within a few days, but definitely no longer than a week.

Trial Membership Process

In order to become a member of Liquid Courage you must follow our trial membership process. The first step is to get a guild sponsor. Your sponsor must be currently a member of rank standard member or higher. Then you will need to fill out and post an application on the application forums

Once your sponsor confirms their sponsorship you will be granted trial membership. Your trial period is 4 weeks in which your and your sponsors responsibility is to insure you meet as much of the guild as possible. If you are going to be absent for any length of time during your trial period, let your sponsor and recruitment officer know ASAP. We will likely extend your trial period.

At the end of the 4 weeks there will be a vote on your acceptance. Everyone of the standard member or higher rank will get a vote, you must gain 70% yes’s to get in.

No votes work in the following manner: Accompanying every no vote there must be a pm explaining why to the Guild Leader and Recruitment Officer. Each officer will then decide if the justification is sound, and if so will count it. It requires 2 such justified “no’s” to keep someone out. That means if both the GL and Recruitment Officer agree it is justified a single “No” will keep someone out. Should one of the 2 officers not feel it is justified it will require another no vote where at least one of them feels the complaint is justified. Should they both feel it is not a justified reason the no vote will not count as a no, but it will not be a yes going towards the 70% either.
